Privacy choices
Last updated 2026-09-03
This page is how you exercise your choices about the information Waybook holds. We honour these requests wherever you live, whether or not a particular law requires us to.
Stop emailing me
Waybook does not have a mailing list. The website collects no email address, there is nothing to subscribe to, and no marketing email is sent to anybody.
If you gave us an address during the short period the early-access form was on this site, write to privacy@waybook.io and it will be deleted. Nothing was ever sent to it.
What Waybook does not do
Several privacy rights concern practices Waybook does not have. Rather than build controls that appear to switch something off while doing nothing, here is the verified position:
| Practice | Waybook |
|---|---|
| Selling personal information | We do not, and never have. There is no advertising technology in the product or on the website. |
| Sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising | We do not. No third-party trackers, tags or pixels exist on this site. |
| Targeted advertising | We do not advertise to you at all. |
| Profiling with legal or similarly significant effects | We do not profile you and make no automated decisions about you. |
| Using your data to train models | We do not. |
| Selling or sharing sensitive information | We do not. Your financial information in the hosted product is encrypted before we receive it, so we could not use it if we wanted to. |
You may still submit an opt-out request for any of these, and we will confirm in writing that the practice does not occur. We also honour opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control, which is straightforward for us because there is nothing for them to switch off.
Get a copy, correct it, or delete it
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what we hold about you, and what we do with it.
- Give you a copy in a portable format.
- Correct anything inaccurate.
- Delete it.
- Limit how we use sensitive information.
- Appeal if we refuse a request.
Email privacy@waybook.io from the address the request concerns, and say which of the above you want. That is the whole process — there is no form to fill in and no account to create.
Inside the application you do not need to ask us at all: export everything as CSV or PDF whenever you like, and purge your records from the settings screen. If you run Waybook on your own machine, deleting the file deletes the data, and we never had a copy.
How we verify a request
We ask you to write from the email address the request concerns, and we reply to that address. For an early-access record that is enough, because the address is the record.
For a hosted workbook we may need to confirm you control the account before deleting it. We will not ask you for a government ID, a photograph or financial details in order to verify a privacy request — if someone claiming to be Waybook does, it is not us.
You may use an authorised agent. We will ask for evidence that you gave them permission.
How long we take
| Request | Response |
|---|---|
| Unsubscribe | Immediately, on submission. |
| Acknowledgement of any other request | Within 10 days. |
| Completion | Within 45 days. If we need longer we will tell you why, and take no more than 45 further days. |
| Appeal decision | Within 45 days of the appeal. |
There is no charge, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
What we cannot do
One limit is worth stating plainly, because it surprises people: on the hosted service your workbook is encrypted on your device and we hold no key. We can delete it. We cannot read it, decrypt it, or produce its contents for you.
So a request for a copy of your financial data is answered by exporting it from inside the application, where you have the key — not by us extracting it. That is the same property that keeps it private from us.
We may also decline a request where the law requires us to keep something, or where granting it would reveal another person’s information. If we decline we will say why, and you can appeal.
